The Slade Centre is a four storey 8,000 sq ft town centre complex, built in 1905 by Edwardian entrepreneur William Slade. Once a department store, it re-opened after a major refurbishment in January 2000 and now houses offices,  a gallery, meeting rooms, apartments and a contemporary bar/restaurant.
