The Slade Centre is a four-storey, 8000 sq. ft. town centre complex built in 1905 by
Edwardian entrepreneur William Slade, and occupying a prominent position on The Square
at the heart of the conservation area. Once a department store, it now houses offices,
meeting rooms, exhibition space, apartments and a contemporary bar.

The Slade Centre offers a range of meeting room options from the large Studio to smaller meeting rooms. All may be hired at hourly or daily rates and all have access to a range of facilities.

The Studio at The Slade Centre can accommodate up to 50 people, depending on seating layout. Flooded with natural light during the day and with flexible lighting systems for use in the evenings, this bright and airy space is ideal for training events and seminars, or private parties and receptions. The Studio measures approximately 10m x 5m and has direct access to a large balcony to the rear of the building.

The more formal Board Room can accommodate up to 12 people around a large table. It also boasts a flexible lighting system. A connecting door allows this room to be used in conjunction with The Studio if appropriate. It can then provide useful breakout space for larger training events and seminars.

Smaller meeting rooms catering for up to 5 people are also available.

Users of meeting rooms benefit from access to a fully equipped kitchen. Alternatively, catering can be provided. Whiteboards, overhead projectors and PC projectors are available if required.

Combining modern facilities with the best features of the original Edwardian building, the offices at The Slade Centre provide a pleasant working environment which offers a range of benefits. To those who may currently be working from home and are either starting a new business or going freelance, the offices provide peace and quiet with room to grow, and access to formal meeting and training spaces when and if required. For those who may have felt a degree of isolation working at home, there are opportunities to interact with other users of the building, allowing cross-fertilisation of ideas and exchange of skills and contacts.

Offices are rented at an inclusive* rate which covers utilities, business rates, and cleaning of common areas, and allows use of the communal kitchen and outside balcony. Rental agreements are on a monthly basis and short term lets may be accommodated.

*Rents exclude furniture, phone and broadband – everything else, including business rates are included.
