Gillingham is well situated for developing business in the south
west of England. Rail: The station is on the South West Trains main line from London Waterloo (2 hours) to Exeter (80 minutes) and the west country. Main stops on the line are Clapham, Woking, Basingstoke, Andover, Salisbury, Gillingham, Sherborne, Yeovil, Honiton and Exeter. Road: The A303 main route west lies about 5 miles to the north of the town. Bristol and Bath and the M4 are within an hours drive, and the Severn Bridge is around 75 minutes away. Drive time to Bournemouth and Poole is less than an hour. Facilities: The town is developing fast. The Waitrose store is one of the most successful in the country. Focus have recently opened a main store, and there are a number of other commercial development sites in progress. Assistance: North Dorset District Council takes a proactive approach to incoming businesses. Their Economic Development staff, based in Blandford, are regular visitors to the Centre. We would be pleased for your company to use the Slade Centre as a base for your initial explorations of the area, and will broker relevant meetings for you with local organisations. Please call 01747 821480 or email info@sladecentre.com to make initial contact. We very much want to see North Dorset fulfill its potential, and your business may be an important part of that process. |
