Dora Carrington & The Bloomsbury Group

Brian & Patricia Street introduced an appreciative audience at The Studio in The Slade Centre to the colourful Bloomsbury Group who flourished after the first world war, including extracts in verse and prose. The many eccentric figures they described included Dora Carrington, Lytton Strachey, Virginia Woolf, Maynard Keynes and that incomparable hostess, Lady Ottoline Morrell.

Brian Street, a Bloomsbury groupie with a special interest in the Strachey/ Carrington menage, has lectured extensively with the assistance of his wife Patricia, an actress who has performed both here and in North America, specialising in Shakespeare roles.

Rumours of his impending retirement apparently proving unfounded, Brian can be contacted here.
