The Phoenix Brake. c1880. A
group setting off from outside the Phoenix for an outing to the Larmer
Tree Victorian Pleasure Gardens. The gentleman to the right in a dark
coat and trilby type hat is Mr Slade.
About twenty years later, Mr Slade would knock down and rebuild part of the two storey terrace at the rear of the photograph to create The Slade Building. |
